“To unite communities through music, support local charities, and provide school supplies and essentials to underserved youth.”
Groove with Purpose
Groove N Give is a community-driven movement that brings people together through music, art, and culture — all while giving back. By partnering with local artists, venues, and nonprofits, we host charity events that turn good times into greater causes, supporting underserved communities and uplifting those in need.
From Beats to Backpacks
Groove N Give exists to turn the energy of live music into real-world impact. Through free community events powered by local DJs and creatives, we raise supplies, awareness, and opportunities for underserved youth — proving that every beat dropped can help lift someone up.
Party With Purpose
We believe the dancefloor can be a force for good. Groove N Give connects music lovers, artists, and small businesses to support grassroots causes — from school supply drives to disability advocacy — all while creating spaces where the community can celebrate, uplift, and give back.
1. Community First
We’re powered by locals, for locals. We work with artists, venues, volunteers, and charities to give back to the neighborhoods that raised us.
2. Inclusivity Always
Everyone deserves support, no matter their background, ability, or zip code. We welcome all walks of life to join the groove and give movement.
3. Music With Purpose
We turn dance floors into platforms for change. Every beat dropped and every set spun supports a greater cause.
4. Grassroots Hustle
Built from scratch, fueled by heart. We’re not corporate — we’re community-driven, volunteer-powered, and built by people who care.
5. Transparency & Trust
Donations go where they’re meant to go. We aim to keep everything transparent, honest, and for the people.
6. Giving with Style
From dope merch to unforgettable events, we give back with creativity, culture, and flavor.
Growing up in Boyle Heights, California, I saw firsthand what struggle looked like—but I also saw what community could do for someone. My name is Ghosstek. I’m a DJ, a barber, and a Chicano from the Eastside who’s always believed that music can change lives—not just through sound, but through action. That belief is what led me to create Groove N Give.
Since I was a kid, I dreamed of launching a nonprofit that gave low-income youth free access to music: production classes, lessons, studio time, and even a nonprofit label where they could release their own songs. I knew the power music had because I felt it. I saw people light up at EDM shows—dancing, jumping, smiling, forgetting their problems for just a moment. That energy is healing. That energy is powerful. And I knew I could use it to make a positive impact.
But dreams like that take time and resources. So instead of waiting, I decided to start with what I had—my music, my platform, and my community. That’s when Groove N Give was born. It started with a simple idea: throw dope events that give back. Use the power of music to raise awareness and support for kids and families in need. Turn every beat into a blessing.
My journey began long before I ever touched some decks. My pops was a mobile DJ—doing weddings, quinceañeras, parties—hustling to support the family. I used to help him load speakers and set up gear. Later on, he opened a barbershop in Boyle Heights that became a staple in the neighborhood. That shop wasn’t just about fades—it was about giving back. He teamed up with groups like Comunidad Cesar Chavez, offering free haircuts to kids in need and organizing drives for backpacks and school supplies.
We were once those kids. I remember the impact that had. I remember being at food drives and getting hand-me-downs from people who cared. That kind of love stays with you. It becomes part of you. That’s why I became a barber myself—because I love making people feel good. Whether it’s a fresh cut or a fire set, I just want to bring people joy.
Music stuck with me the whole way. I got serious around high school—learning from other student DJs, producing beats, and discovering my own sound. I started gigging in 2018, playing venues, bars, and live sets for local stations. But in late 2023, life hit hard. I stepped away from the scene completely. I deleted everything and went ghost.
Mental health took a toll. I felt lost. But with support from loved ones and therapy, I found my way back. I came out of that darkness with a new name and a renewed purpose: Ghosstek. The name comes from an old ghost doodle I used in high school, combined with my love for tech house. But it became more than a name—it became a mission.
I’m not just here to make noise—I’m here to make change. Ghosstek is for the underdogs, the overlooked, the misunderstood. It’s for the culture, the people, the barrio. It’s a reminder that even when you feel invisible, your art and your heart can still be felt.
I remember being at a charity event, surrounded by kids who reminded me of my younger self. What stuck with me most wasn’t the music—it was the way these kids responded to care. Just showing up, showing love, treating them with respect—they held onto that like it was gold.
That’s my mantra:
One act of kindness, one show of care, can change a life.
You show them love, and they carry that with them. They remember what love should be.
I’ve seen it over and over again. That’s why I give back—to school drives, shelters, and youth programs. Especially for disabled and low-income kids. Because I know what it’s like to grow up needing a break. I was that kid. And I’ll never forget the people who showed up for me when they didn’t have to.
Groove N Give is more than a party. It’s a movement. It’s where house music and hip-hop meet heart and purpose. We throw community events that raise funds and awareness for causes that matter—whether it’s providing school supplies, meals, clothing, or opportunities for creative youth.
Every DJ that plays a Groove N Give event isn’t just spinning tracks—they’re making an impact. They’re volunteering their time, their energy, their talent. And every person that attends is helping us give something back.
We call our day events Groove N Brew—a fusion of good music, good vibes, good food, and even better intentions. Come for the music, stay for the mission.
My dream is to one day grow this into a global nonprofit—offering free music programs to youth who need a creative outlet and a safe space. To give them something real, something healing, something to build with. Music saved me more than once. I want to give that gift to others.
Until then, we start where we are. Right here in Boyle Heights. One beat at a time.
I’m not doing this for clout. I’m doing this because it needs to be done. Because music, culture, and community have the power to heal—and Groove N Give is proof of that. Whether you’re dancing in the crowd, spinning behind the decks, or handing out backpacks to kids—you’re part of the movement.
We’re here to groove. We’re here to give.
And we’re just getting started.
